Chocolate face

benji liked the beetroot brownies!!

Yes, we have a veg box!!
This means regular veg for dinner and then having to be creative about the veg that just keep lurking around in the bottom of the fridge and not getting eaten, such as beetroot!!
So.... grating 500g of beetroot and adding lots and lots of chocolate (and plenty of other yummy things) really does end up in a yummy brownie, especially with a bit of creme fraiche. (and there is still a BIG portion waiting for you in the freezer for when you come over at half term/ I'm sure you'd be quite happy to have it without any healthy veg in it at all, but that's just how it goes in this house!!)

This is Benji's lego farmyard set that he got for Christmas, except it's all got a bit creative after Thomas and Benji had a lego session. Thomas seems to like playing lego quite alot. Hmm.

A grumpy crab I saw on the way to the Kvinfo library!!

Last week I went and had an interview with an organisation called Kvinfo that helps immigrants (that's me!!) by finding a mentor to help them with work. It was next to the black diamond library on the harbour - just opposite and down a bit from where we/ or rather you did the jumping in from the harbour pool into all that rather cold water.
Anyway they found me a mentor already, and I'm going to meet her in Copenhagen the week after next. Hopefully by the end of February I'll have a registered business, as I'm not having much luck trying to navigate the danish business systems without speaking danish.

 here are two more springs that me, thomas and benji went to visit. The first one has a loovely energy, the sort of thing that makes your mummy all happy, and the second one has an amazing amount of water pouring through it (the lion head is a depiction of Neptune and looks a bit mental close up!!)

Other things this week? I took Benji to the doctors to see if they can do anything else about his poor little eczema. She's given me the name of a dermatologist and a paediatrician that we have to contact and make appts with. So lots more work for mummy and daddy & benji travelling about, but maybe something useful will come out of it. The doctor's was quite hard to find. It was down a little street next to the cathedral and was in an apartment building, and looked like someone's home until the second you opened the front door (really hoping that you're not bursting into someone's house!!) and then, lo & behold it's all a doctor's surgery. Very strange.
I ordered your assistance today with Norwegian for when you fly over. I spoke to two women, both of whom sounded russian!! Maybe Russia is getting into the whole call centre business.
Hope you're feeling better after last week, that was all a bit of a nightmare with everyone getting sick, deary me. Hope we can be illness free when you come over for half term. I will remember to order that one from the universe!!
But I hope you have a nice time with Max tomorrow and your game actually goes ahead on Sunday. As I'm coming back with you on the 21st Feb, I should (weather permitting) be able to see your game that weekend.
And saving the best news till last - you now have doors to your room!!!

benji & the baby prison

here's Benji when we went out for a walk the weekend before last. It was quite cold but as you can see a nice blue sky. It's been grey and cloudy and lots of windy days since then. Sigh.

as you can see he doesn't seem to know he's supposed to look forlorn when he's locked up!!

Today Benji's been home from nursery, he's got conjunctivitus in both eyes, (where you get gooey stuff in your eyes) ...you used to get it quite often when you were a baby; so I got to stay home and make soup, but my american friend came over for lunch and had soup with us, and then.... I made beetroot brownies, I think they're gonna taste better than they sound as there was a whole lot of chocolate going in there... I'll freeze some and bring it over when we come next week.

well Christmas went fast didn't it!!?
here's some pics

It didn't seem like you were here very long now that you've gone, I wish you were here still. But I think you and benji had some fun!!

When I woke up this morning the snow had completely melted overnight, the temperature was going up yesterday, and you could hear the 'drip, drip, drip' of the water of the snow melting. It was really lovely to wake up on christmas day though and find it snowing - I think that's never happened to me before!! An actual white christmas!!

But I think that's why it seems like you weren't here very long, because we had lots to do!! Lots of presents to open, and chocolate to eat!! But not so much mummy and josh time, huh?

Fried herring

Benji's artwork, well, sort of.

This is Benji's colouring from nursery this week, apparently he wanted to use all of the colours.
He had his last day on Friday, and he had a little going away party that we went to, and all the babies ate those dried fruit bars you used to have (we took them in for them, and gave the staff chocolates, hardly fair, but they said they're not allowed to give the children sweets!)

Tomorrow we have some of Thomas's family coming to wish Benji a happy birthday (for Monday) and Kirsten is here already. Tonight we had potato wedges with a nice green salad and some fried herring. It was very nice, and I remarked how much you wouldn't have liked it!! Benji looooved his fish and threw his cucumber on the floor.

Me and Thomas are going to have the rare experience now of going out in the evening, it's possible one of us may accidentally start sleeping as we're usually in bed by 9.00p.m, but we'll see if can stay up a bit later!!

But apart from the weather, me & benji hope you're feeling better, here's a little video (that starts off out of focus but gradually gets clearer!) where I completely fail to get benji to say anything like 'get well soon joshua' (he would have said it if you had asked him too!!) Hopefully you're well on the way to recovery now, but I did lots of chanting for you this week and sent you some healing :-*

I've been eating a gluten-free diet the last week or so, that means no wheat or rye (no pasta or bread, or biscuits or cake) and am learning to love rice cakes and all things vegetable. This is to see if it helps my joints feel better, which it does seem to be doing, and I'm sleeping better as well. So now you've got two parents eating super healthily - poor you!!
I thought we should take Benji to Macdonalds though on the Saturday as a birthday treat, as that will be the second only ever time he's been!!

This is a picture of me today at my favourite spring of the moment, it's in the middle of an old folks home, but no-one's shouted at me yet, so hopefully they don't mind me popping about!!

That's it really, not much news from us. Benji's had another bit of a cold, (as usual) and a bit more teething (as usual) but he's sleeping much better at the moment (hooray) until 7a.m some mornings, and he's going to bed a bit later around 7/7.15.
He's starting his new nursery next monday (on his birthday) I'll only take him in for an hour or so, and the same Tues, just to start getting him used to being there. Then we fly over to you on Wednesday (another hooray). I've just seen the weather forecast for Redhill this week, it's all looking dry so hopefully a thumbs up for your match on Sunday...

Benji getting a story

This was benji yesterday, we went to our new friends in Trekroner in the afternoon and benji was able to get some story telling going on!! We went on the bus, but they wouldn't let us on the first one because only 2 mums with prams are allowed on at the time, and they were already 2 prams on there. So I left the buggy at home and took benji on the reins (he had a great time crawling around on the bus floor because he wouldn't sit nicely, hmm!)

Then, we (well, Benji) had a little go on the trampoline on the way home, it was already getting dark by then (4p.m) As you can see, he hasn't quite found his trampoline legs yet, but I'm sure he'll get there!!!!

Today we went to see Bue and Jason in Copenhagen as they invited us and Thomas's brothers and sisters for brunch to celebrate Jason's birthday (which is next week when he'll be twelve just like you). We had eggs and sausages and bacon which was very nice and here's a video of the danish 'happy birthday' song as sung to Jason today!! (and they sing hurrah, hurrah, hurrah alot, 'cept it sounds more like hoo-wha to me?!!)

Benji and the piggy

We found a toystore, here's a video of benji talking to a piggy (I uploaded it to your youtube account) the second I turned the video off, he said 'piggy' really loud and clearly, but you'll have to take my word for that!! http://youtu.be/gTnIahQ_3AE

It was our first trip to the shopping centre, I saw a 'game' type shop. There's a burger king upstairs, but no macdonalds, (there is one somewhere but I can't remember where). There are ever ever such a lot of clothing shops, especially for women, full of black and grey sparkly things!! 

We went shopping at Føtex (supermarket), which was unremarkable. This was benji reading the aforementioned toyshop brochure to keep him happy whilst we did the shopping!!

he's had another cold this week, so is a bit of a tired and snotty bunny (or piggy if you like) but it doesn't seem to be spoiling his appetite any!!

It's his last week at nursery next week, and his last day on Friday. The nursery leader asked me if we would like to take some little bits of food in for the children to eat as a little goodbye, but no sweets!! (they're not allowed!!) what a shame for benji, as that would be such a good chocolate opportunity!!
