here's benji at a children's concert I took him to yesterday at the amphitheatre that you and benji were sledding down in the snow last winter!! He was a bit overwhelmed by the loudness of it all, but he did well and lasted the pace!!

I'll be a rock star one day!!

so it was nice to have something for the little ones as well!!
Lots of people are on holiday now, as the kids go back to school in August, so I'm wishing July goes quick so that we can have our holidays too!!
But looking back a little bit first, here's the selfie Thomas took in the church of us at Jeri's wedding!!

 

 

Thomas's arms are healing well, it's been a month now, but he doesn't have to take his painkillers now from this week, and has been seen carrying two cups of tea all at once. I've been a bit unwell since last week, just worn out with it all really, and my joints have been playing up again, so went off to see my doctor today, and embarked on discovering the joys of the Danish health care system.

Just another Saturday

Today Thomas was on his course, so this morning we were all up early and Thomas left at 8. I swept up the balcony where Benji, quite a few weeks ago, spent some happy time, tipping out soil from a plant pot and covered the whole floor. Then we got ready and went to the library (compulsory activity on a Saturday - Benji LOOVES loves loves the library, they have toys to play with and an ipad, and puzzles and a little car to sit in, and little tents to play in and so it goes on) I had very sensibly taken with me a fruit bar so that I could get Benji out of the aforementioned library once I had got him in it. Not an easy task, but luckily for me the fruit bar ruse worked and he was so busy focusing on getting to eat it, that he didn't notice that he was being hustled out of the library and back onto the bike, where we went to the ..... hairdressers. This is a picture of Benji (this is the after pic) licking on a well deserved lolly. I think this is the 2nd lolly he has ever had in his life (the first being the first time we went there in January!!)

the lolly did well, it even got us round the supermarket after!!

Then this afternoon, after a nap (benji's not mine, I spent the time working on a newsletter!!) Benji 'helped' me make banana loaf. This added an element of risk and danger that I normally don't associate with cooking, but was also quite fun. One slightly horrifying moment, was when I had given Benji the spoon to lick after we'd mixed it the cake ingredients, and I looked down to see Benji sucking on my (hand wash only) cardigan after he'd wiped cake mixture all over it from the spoon. I did have an apron on, but he managed to find the only bit that wasn't protected.

This is benji eating his dinner, which was mainly banana loaf with a small bit of potato and sweetcorn thrown in beforehand. For anyone who feels dispproving about this, Benji is growing his last (god, I hope so) back teeth, and is slightly mad with discomfort and also has a cold, and is mainly living off milk right now. Which makes banana loaf the most nutritious thing he's eaten today!!

Hi Joshua!!

Here's a pic of me and benji getting our photo taken to send to you. I'm looking slightly insane (nothing new there), I think something had just made me laugh, and Benji was just going out the door (with Thomas, he's not that bigger yet to take himself to school, lol) and all ready for going on the bike and as usual in these pics for the blog, I was in my nightie. I do get dressed once they go out the door, honest. This week I've been busy writing a manual for the workshop I'm doing in May. Thomas is on his course this weekend, so me and benji are going to hang out in the library tomorrow morning (still his favourite place) and then I'm taking him to get his hair cut. Can't have him looking like orphan boy for auntie jeri's wedding (Thomas said 'why does that make him look like an orphan boy?' but it seems obvious to me that if you're a small child and you haven't had your hair cut since January and it's now May, and it really looks like you haven't had your hair cut since January, then it must mean that you have no parents to get it sorted it out for you!! no brainer, right?!! poor little neglected baby....)

here's a picture of me back in April I think, this was festelavn, where everyone gets dressed up (and benji was a pirate) and you get to eat nice pastries filled with creme patisserie. It's been a while since I did any blogs as there's just been so much to do!! I was actually looking for a pic of you and benji, and uploaded this one by mistake. Obviously the universe wants me to be seen in my pink witchy hat. Cackle cackle.

Chocolate face

benji liked the beetroot brownies!!

Yes, we have a veg box!!
This means regular veg for dinner and then having to be creative about the veg that just keep lurking around in the bottom of the fridge and not getting eaten, such as beetroot!!
So.... grating 500g of beetroot and adding lots and lots of chocolate (and plenty of other yummy things) really does end up in a yummy brownie, especially with a bit of creme fraiche. (and there is still a BIG portion waiting for you in the freezer for when you come over at half term/ I'm sure you'd be quite happy to have it without any healthy veg in it at all, but that's just how it goes in this house!!)

This is Benji's lego farmyard set that he got for Christmas, except it's all got a bit creative after Thomas and Benji had a lego session. Thomas seems to like playing lego quite alot. Hmm.

A grumpy crab I saw on the way to the Kvinfo library!!

Last week I went and had an interview with an organisation called Kvinfo that helps immigrants (that's me!!) by finding a mentor to help them with work. It was next to the black diamond library on the harbour - just opposite and down a bit from where we/ or rather you did the jumping in from the harbour pool into all that rather cold water.
Anyway they found me a mentor already, and I'm going to meet her in Copenhagen the week after next. Hopefully by the end of February I'll have a registered business, as I'm not having much luck trying to navigate the danish business systems without speaking danish.

 here are two more springs that me, thomas and benji went to visit. The first one has a loovely energy, the sort of thing that makes your mummy all happy, and the second one has an amazing amount of water pouring through it (the lion head is a depiction of Neptune and looks a bit mental close up!!)

Other things this week? I took Benji to the doctors to see if they can do anything else about his poor little eczema. She's given me the name of a dermatologist and a paediatrician that we have to contact and make appts with. So lots more work for mummy and daddy & benji travelling about, but maybe something useful will come out of it. The doctor's was quite hard to find. It was down a little street next to the cathedral and was in an apartment building, and looked like someone's home until the second you opened the front door (really hoping that you're not bursting into someone's house!!) and then, lo & behold it's all a doctor's surgery. Very strange.
I ordered your assistance today with Norwegian for when you fly over. I spoke to two women, both of whom sounded russian!! Maybe Russia is getting into the whole call centre business.
Hope you're feeling better after last week, that was all a bit of a nightmare with everyone getting sick, deary me. Hope we can be illness free when you come over for half term. I will remember to order that one from the universe!!
But I hope you have a nice time with Max tomorrow and your game actually goes ahead on Sunday. As I'm coming back with you on the 21st Feb, I should (weather permitting) be able to see your game that weekend.
And saving the best news till last - you now have doors to your room!!!

benji & the baby prison

here's Benji when we went out for a walk the weekend before last. It was quite cold but as you can see a nice blue sky. It's been grey and cloudy and lots of windy days since then. Sigh.

as you can see he doesn't seem to know he's supposed to look forlorn when he's locked up!!

Today Benji's been home from nursery, he's got conjunctivitus in both eyes, (where you get gooey stuff in your eyes) ...you used to get it quite often when you were a baby; so I got to stay home and make soup, but my american friend came over for lunch and had soup with us, and then.... I made beetroot brownies, I think they're gonna taste better than they sound as there was a whole lot of chocolate going in there... I'll freeze some and bring it over when we come next week.
